The church is located in the center of Ostojićevo village. The village has around 480 inhabitants. Next to the church is the primary school of the village and two monuments are close to the church. One is dedicated to the fallen Yugoslav partisans and the second to the fallen Serbian national Chetniks from World War II .

In the neighboring village of Batković , there is the Serbian Orthodox parish church, built from 1984 to 1988, the parishes of Batković I and Batković II, the Church of St. Sava . The second branch church, the Church of St. Mark, is also located in the Serbian Orthodox cemetery in Batković .

The village is located in the flat plain of the Semberija , northeast of the municipality capital Bijeljina, not far from the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the eastern neighbor of Serbia . The Bistrik River flows through Ostojićevo .

The church is surrounded by the fenced church yard with an area of ​​1500 m², in which the 40 m² Sveti Sava House (Svetosavski dom), built in 2005, is located. The Batković II parish was founded in 1992 by order of the then bishop of the Zvornik-Tuzla Vasilije (Kačavenda) eparchy, and the parish registers have also been kept since 1992. The parish of Batković II includes the village of Ostojićevo, and the hamlets : Marići, Klis and Gajići, which belong to the village of Batković.

Ktitors (donors) of the Church of St. Prophet Elias are: Radivoje Marković, who provided the space for the construction of the church, Milan Perić, Dušan Nikolić and Nikola Perić.

Construction of the Church of St. Prophet Elias began in 1998. The foundations of the church were consecrated on November 14, 1998 by the then bishop of the Zvornik-Tuzla Vasilije (Kačavenda) eparchy.

The construction work on the church and the interior of the church were finished in 2002. And on August 2nd, 2008, the Slava (patronage festival) of Holy Prophet Elias, the church was inaugurated after four years of construction by Bishop Vasilije (Kačavenda).

The single-nave church was built in the Serbian-Byzantine style , with an altar - apse in the east and a church tower with a church bell and an entrance portal in the west. The church was built from small bricks, the roof is also covered with bricks. The church has the dimensions 15.9 × 9.5 m.

The facade of the church is kept simple in white. There are some red decorations on the church tower. The entrance to the church is on the west side.

The church is not currently painted with Byzantine frescoes. The iconostasis of oak carved by Obrad Trišić from the municipal capital Bijeljina. The icons were painted by Živorad Ilić from the western Serbian town of Loznica .

Batković II parish priest

Until 1992, the area of ​​today's parish belonged to the parish Batković I. First priest of the independent parish Batković II was Archpriest Mihajlo Gačić from 1992 to 1995, during the Bosnian War .

From 1996 until his retirement in 2012, Archpriest Milan Tanacković followed him as parish priest. Priest Tanacković was very committed to the construction of the Church of St. Prophet Eilas. From 2012 to December 31, 2013, the current priest of the Batković parish I Milijan Stankić temporarily looked after the church. And since January 1, 2014, Archpriest Ljubomir Samardžić has been a priest of the Batković II parish.
