Kirsten Sweetland (born September 24, 1988 in Nanaimo ) is a former Canadian duathlete and triathlete . She is an Olympian (2016).

Career

In the six years from 2005 to 2010, Sweetland took part in 26 ITU competitions and made it into the top ten 13 times.

In 2006 she became junior duathlon vice world champion and junior triathlon world champion and in 2010 also U23 vice world champion triathlon. In 2010 Sweetland also won silver at the Premium Pan American Cup in Kelowna.

In France, Sweetland represented the Tri Olympique Club Cessonnais in the Cub Championship series Lyonnaise des Eaux in 2010 , but only competed in the Grand Final in La Baule (Triathlon Audencia) on September 18, 2010 and finished eighth, thanks to her and her club Irish Aileen Morrison fifth.

At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, she could not start due to an injury.

In July 2014 she finished second at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Kirsten Sweetland qualified for a starting place at the 2016 Summer Olympics, she started for Canada on August 20 in Rio de Janeiro (together with Amelie Kretz , Sarah-Anne Brault , Tyler Mislawchuk and Andrew Yorke ) and finished 41st. Rank. It has not appeared internationally since 2016.
