The 1947/48 season was the first season of the Class B as the second highest Soviet ice hockey league .

mode

The 15 teams in Class B were initially divided into two groups. The center zone had one more participant with eight teams than the east zone with seven teams. Each team played in a home and away match against each group opponent, which is why the teams in the center zone played 14 games each and the teams in the east zone played 12 games each. The top two teams in each group qualified for the final tournament, whose winner in the Klass A rising. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
