The 1959/60 season was the tenth season of Class B as the second highest Soviet ice hockey league . The team from Metallurg Stalinsk , which was promoted to class A , became champions of class B.

mode

Class B was initially divided into three regular groups and the group of Union Republics. The teams of the three regular groups competed four times against each opponent within their group, as did the teams of the group of Union Republics. The three best-placed teams in each of the three regular groups and the first-placed team from the Union Republics group qualified for the second phase of the season. In the second phase of the season, the teams remaining in the competition were divided into two groups, the two best teams of which moved into the final round, and the best-placed team rose to Class A. The other eight teams in the second phase of the season then played placement games. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
