The 1958/59 season was the ninth season of Class B as the second highest Soviet ice hockey league . Class B champion was Spartak Omsk , who also rose to class A.

mode

Class B were initially divided into six regular groups and two special groups. The teams of the six regular groups competed four times against each opponent within their group. The teams of the special groups only competed once against each opponent within their group. The first placed in each of the six regular groups as well as the two special groups qualified directly for the second phase of the season, while the second placed of the six regular groups had to play in a qualification to participate in the second phase of the season. In the second phase of the season, the teams remaining in the competition were divided into two groups, the two best teams of which made it to the final round, and the first-placed team rose to class A. The remaining seven teams of the second phase of the season then took part in a placement round. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
