Klaus Bruns
Klaus Bruns (born in 1962 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a German stage and costume designer .
life and work
Klaus Bruns studied stage design and costume design at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Since then he has worked as a costume designer for drama and opera. In acting he worked at theaters in Graz, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Cologne, Leipzig, Stuttgart and Zurich, at the Burgtheater in Vienna, the Thalia-Theater in Hamburg, the Schaubühne and the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, the Residenztheater and the Kammerspiele in Munich. He has worked with a number of directors, and he works closely with Karin Henkel .
He was also successful in opera and worked with the directors Götz Friedrich , Kirsten Harms , Harry Kupfer , Damiano Michieletto and Peter Mussbach at the three Berlin opera houses, at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, at the Teatro Regio in Turin and at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro as well as at the opera houses of Amsterdam and Antwerp, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Mannheim. For several years he has been working closely with Barrie Kosky in drama and opera:
- Wagner's Ring des Nibelungen at the Hanover State Opera
- Strindberg's dream play at the Deutsches Theater Berlin
- Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice at the Schauspiel Frankfurt
- Rusalka , Moses and Aron and Eugen Onegin at the Komische Oper Berlin
- La fanciulla del West and Macbeth at the Zurich Opera
- The fiery angel at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich as well
- Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Bayreuth Festival .
