Klaus Humann

Klaus Humann (born June 7, 1950 in Bergen ) is a German publisher , author and editor .

Life

After graduating from high school, Klaus Humann did an apprenticeship as a bookseller at Rowohlt Verlag . After various jobs, he returned there in 1974 as a lecturer for political non-fiction ( Rowohlt Aktuell ) and as editor of music books ( Rock Session ). From 1986 to 1991 he was a freelance editor and literary agent . In 1991 Humann switched to Luchterhand Literaturverlag , where he worked as a lecturer for the Luchterhand Collection. In 1993 he went to S. Fischer Verlag , where he developed the children's paperback program Fischer Schatzinsel . 1997 Humann became publisher of the Hamburg Carlsen Verlag . Under his leadership, the publishing house has achieved great success, including as the German publisher of the Harry Potter series by Joanne K. Rowling and the Bis (s) series by Stephenie Meyer . In April 2012, Humann left Carlsen Verlag and founded Aladin-Verlag , based in Hamburg, which has been publishing a picture and children's book program comprising around 40 titles a year since spring 2013. In March 2018, the Bonnier Germany publishing group announced that Humann will be retiring at the end of 2018.

Trivia

Humann is married to the cultural manager Mónica Hahn-Humann, the couple have two sons. Humann is a passionate tennis player.
