Klaus Pehl

Klaus Pehl (born September 16, 1944 in Marburg an der Lahn ) is a German educational researcher and jazz musician ( clarinet , alto , soprano and baritone saxophone ).

Pehl, who initially worked as a scientist and until 2005 as a department head at the German Institute for Adult Education , wrote a book with Herbert Gerl on evaluation in adult education (1983). He is also an expert in adult education - statistics in Germany.

Initially, he worked part-time as a musician. In 1975 he founded the Ragtime Society Frankfurt , with which he recorded three albums in 1978, 1983 and 1997 with rags interpreted by this salon orchestra . From 1989 to 2014 he played in Harald Blöchers Tailgate Jazzband and to this day with Herbert Christs Dreamboat Serenaders . In 1985 he founded the big band Memories , which existed until 2001 , with whom he played the classic swing repertoire . Tom Lord records 13 recordings between 1972 and 1991.

In addition, Pehl led various projects in which he interpreted transcriptions of historical recordings at the International Jazz Festival at Sea with international star soloists between 1987 and 1998 , but also with the Barrelhouse Jazzband or Allotria Jazzband and René & Olivier Franc . He is currently playing for Semmel's Hot Shots .
