Klaus-Peter Wenzel (born June 21, 1936 in Brandenburg an der Havel ; † July 5, 2015 in Binz ) was a German surgeon, hygienist and medical historian.

Life

Klaus-Peter Wenzel is the son of the engineer Hans Wenzel and his wife Grete (née Balhorn) . From 1942 to 1954 he attended schools in Brandenburg , Kühlungsborn and Bad Doberan . After graduating from high school, he studied medicine at the University of Rostock . After the state examination, he completed the compulsory assistantship in Rostock university clinics (1960), the general medical year at the district polyclinic in Weißenfels . In 1961 he was licensed as a doctor.

He went through surgical training at the Weißenfels district hospital. Since 1966 a specialist in surgery , he was a ward physician and senior physician at the surgical clinic of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg under Karl-Ludwig Schober and Joachim Reichmann until 1983 . He achieved his doctorate A in 1969. His doctorate B followed in 1982. In 1983/84 he was Medical Director of the District Polyclinic in Naumburg (Saale) . From 1985 to 1987 he was a research assistant at the Halle City Hospital . While working, he completed the second specialist training for hygiene at the district hygiene institutes in the Halle district and in East Berlin . From 1987 he headed the district hygiene inspection in Berlin-Weißensee , since 1990 as a specialist in hygiene. The council of the borough of Berlin-Weißensee gave him early retirement in 1991 after German reunification . From 1993 to 2001 Wenzel worked as an assistant doctor at a surgically oriented clinic in Berlin-Wilmersdorf . He dealt intensively with Lutz Bertram and the Francke Foundations .

He died unexpectedly shortly after his 79th birthday while on vacation. The urn burial was on August 12, 2015 at the Südfriedhof (Leipzig) .
