Klaus Richrath

Klaus Richrath (* 1937 in Berlin ; † October 7, 2012 ) was a German architect and urban planner who worked as a university lecturer in Karlsruhe .

Live and act

Richrath studied from 1956 to 1962 at the University of Karlsruhe and graduated with a diploma . In the 1960s he worked as an architect and urban planner in Schleswig-Holstein and Freiburg im Breisgau . From 1964 to 1967 he was an assistant at the Institute for Urban and Regional Planning, from 1967 to 1980 at the Chair of Urban Development and Design at the University of Karlsruhe. In 1974 he received his doctorate in engineering. at the University of Karlsruhe with a thesis on "Settlement Structure and Local Transport in Agglomerations ". In his publications he dealt with the Upper Rhine region, including local public transport .

From 1980 to 2001 he was professor for urban and regional planning at the University of Karlsruhe, 1992-1994 substitute professor for urban planning at the University of Architecture and Building (HAB) Weimar. Richrath was a member of the Deutscher Werkbund, DASL and SRL.

After a serious illness, Richrath died on October 7, 2012.
