Klaus Zachert (born July 26, 1942 in Tirschtiegel , Meseritz district ; † April 13, 2011 in Bamberg ) was a German local and state politician ( SPD ).

Klaus Zachert was born in the far east of the Prussian province of Brandenburg ; this area fell to Poland after the end of the war . After graduating from high school in 1963, Zachert did basic military service from 1963 to 1965 before studying to become a teacher in Bamberg and Bayreuth until 1968 . From 1968 he was a teacher at elementary schools and from 1987 to 2006 he was vice-principal at the elementary school Bamberg-Gaustadt . From 1987 to 1991, Zachert was a specialist IT consultant at elementary schools in Bamberg.

Zachert joined the SPD in 1983 and was elected to the Bamberg city ​​council in the 1984 local elections, to which he has been a member until his death. From 1999 to 2002 he was deputy group chairman . Zachert ran for the mayor elections in 2000 and received 18.88% of the votes from four opposing candidates. On November 8, 2002, Zachert replaced Heinz Köhler , who had been elected to the Bundestag in the 2002 election, in the Bavarian state parliament . Zachert was a member of the Committee on Federal and European Affairs and the Committee on Environmental Issues. After a sharp drop in the SPD's vote in the 2003 state elections , Klaus Zachert left the state parliament on October 5, 2003.

Zachert was married, had two children and three grandchildren, and was a Protestant. He was a member of the civil associations Gaustadt and Mitte, the Arbeiterwohlfahrt , the Schützenverein 1899 Gaustadt, the WSV Neptun Bamberg and the ASV Gaustadt, where he was a youth leader for ten years and a game director and manager for 20 years.
