The small root mountain in the Harz is about 610  m above sea level. NHN high southern foothills of the mountain ridge Auf dem Acker ( Acker ) near Sieber in the non-parish Harz region of the Göttingen district in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location

The Small roots Mountain is located in the Upper Harz in the Harz nature park about 4 km northeast of Sieber , a district of Herzberg am Harz . He rises from the neighboring Harz National Park located Acker as withdrawing to the south ridge of the watershed between Lost Kulmke the west and Little Kulmke forms in the East. The western flank of the Kleiner root mountain borders the Siebertal nature reserve on the Lost Kulmke . About 770 m east-southeast, across the valley of the Kleine Kulmke , is the summit of the Großer Wurzberg .

Forest cover

In the period from 1596 to 1732, the two root mountains were overgrown with beech and spruce in small-scale, changing proportions.
