history

In 1904 Albert Klenk founded the sawmill , which was taken over in 1946 by Eugen and Hermann Klenk at the age of 17 and 15. In 1960 the company began manufacturing formwork panels for the construction industry. In 1972 Klenk put a third gang saw into operation and the production of three-layer panels began. With the construction of a cutting plant in 1975, the frame saw was partially replaced. In 1985 the first profiling lines were installed. Waste from the debarking of round wood has been recycled in a fully automatic bark incinerator since 1976; 1994 was heating plant with cogeneration installed. In 1982 Klenk took over the Gaildorf plant . Through further acquisitions, the company grew: So Klenk took over in 1996 Arbor Wood in Baruth / Mark , the subsidiary HIWO took over in 2000 the sawmill Waldburg-Wolfegg in Wolfegg and in 2001 the majority owner of the TTW forest management. 2002 Klenk took in Volgelsheim a new large timber -Sägewerk in operation, which was expanded to Profilierwerk of 2007.

In 1999 the company was founded. On August 22, 2013, the private equity company The Carlyle Group announced the takeover of Klenk Holz AG. The seller was a trust company of German banks. Carlyle Strategic Partners (CSP) provided the capital. On September 29, 2017, Carlyle announced the sale to the Austrian company Binderholz . In April 2018, the legal form changed to Klenk Holz GmbH.

30% of the products produced are exported. The company is one of the leading companies in Europe , alongside the Austrian Klausner Group . The company's total cut in four sawmills is around 2 million cubic meters .

Klenk Holz GmbH includes the plants in Oberrot (headquarters), in Baruth as well as the hiwo subsidiaries with a plant in Wolfegg and TTW Waldpflege GmbH based in Oberrot.

On March 31, 2009 an application for the opening of insolvency proceedings for the subsidiary Klenk Holz France SAS was opened in court in Colmar. In the same year, the plant in Volgelsheim was taken over by the Swiss Schilliger Holz AG . The insolvency proceedings were completed in 2012 and the subsidiary was liquidated .
