history

The founding of the St. Anna Clinic goes back to the community of the St. Anna Sisters. In 1911 they opened the converted Bramberg Castle on Musegg as the St. Anna sanatorium . The move to the current location followed in 1918. The sister community also built a maternity hospital in 1930 and the first orthopedic clinic in Central Switzerland in 1931 . In 1957 the sanatorium was rebuilt under the name Klinik St. Anna . Almost 50 doctors were practicing in the clinic at that time, which corresponded to around half of the doctors working in the city. The St. Anna Nursing School was founded at this time . In 1975 an intensive care unit was opened.

In 1989 the community of sisters handed over the management of the clinic to a director due to a lack of young people. Step by step, the organizational ties between the clinic and the community of St. Anna sisters dissolved. The St. Anna Clinic has been part of the Hirslanden Private Hospital Group since 2005 .
