Linden Dermatology Clinic (2010)

The Clinic for Dermatology, Allergology and Venereology at the Hannover Medical School (MHH) is also often known under the old name of the Linden Dermatology Clinic , which it carried until 2011.

history

In 1833 a hospital with 80 beds designed by August Heinrich Andreae was inaugurated in the then independent municipality of Linden am Ihmeufer . It was the successor to the former city hospital of the city of Hanover on Hohen Ufer and was also in its sponsorship. It is the oldest of all Hanoverian hospitals. In the second half of the 19th century it had a surgery, a syphilis ward for women and a "department for the mentally ill" with a total of 122 beds.

In 1880 Georg Fischer became the medical director of the surgical department. Because of the high demand for treatment options for skin and sexually transmitted diseases, he pushed for the conversion of the hospital into a corresponding specialist hospital. In 1910 the clinic was converted into a specialist hospital for skin and venereal diseases, of which Fischer became director.

In 1923 the clinic had 300 beds. Since this was not enough, it was expanded with a new building in 1933. The dermatological clinic was badly damaged by the air raids on Hanover during World War II. In 1955 a new building was created and connected to the old building.

1998, all hospitals in the city of Hanover were in the new house operation Klinikum Hannover summarized. In 2005, the Dermatology Clinic was integrated into the municipal hospital association Klinikum Region Hannover together with the other hospitals that are sponsored by the Hannover Region .

Until March 31, 2011, the oldest hospital in Hanover was a specialist hospital for dermatology in the municipal hospital association Klinikum Region Hanover in the Hanover region .

On April 1, 2011, the skin clinic became the sole responsibility of the MHH. The complete move to new premises on the MHH site was completed by June 30, 2014.

Area of Expertise

The Department of Dermatology, Allergology and Venereology at the MHH is the only specialist clinic of its kind in the Hanover region. It is one of the few large dermatological specialist clinics in Germany and has its catchment area throughout Lower Saxony.

The hospital offers a wide range of services, from allergology to operative dermatology, phlebology and laser medicine . Further diagnostic and therapeutic focuses are dermatological oncology , dermatological phototherapy and immunodermatology.

Even before the takeover by the MHH, the dermatology clinic was also their research and teaching facility and has functioned as their clinic for dermatology, allergology and venereology since its foundation.
