The Kobertsquelle is a designated natural monument in the Main-Spessart district between Rechtenbach and Lohr am Main in the Bavarian Spessart .
description
The Kobertsquelle lies a little east of Rechtenbach at about 390 m above sea level. NN on the south-western slope of Rothenberg (456 m) in the former community-free area of Rothenberg , therein in the historical forest division 8 Herrnbrunn . It is named after the former "Kobertswiese", which is reforested and now bears the forest field name "Koberts". The slope stream that rises there and is less than 400 meters long feeds three small artificial lakes and reaches the Rechtenbach via the kitchen ditch . There is an island in the largest lower pond.
The spring was set in sandstone a long time ago . On August 26, 2010, the nature conservation authority of the Main-Spessart District Office designated the Kobertsquelle as a natural monument because of its outstanding character. From October of the same year on, the source catchment and its stone drainage channel were dismantled, the area around the source renatured and the dam of the upper pond partially removed. This is to ensure that small organisms can migrate between the small ponds and the spring in the future, in the area of which the water remains cool throughout the year. When the wall was dismantled, the remains of an old gravestone from 1870 were uncovered.
Flora and fauna
Spring snails , strudelworms and fire salamanders live in and around the Koberts spring . There are also larvae of certain stone flies and caddis flies . Milkweed and flooding plumes grow by the stream .
