The Rechtenbach (Kaibach) flows into the Main

The Rechtenbach or Kaibach is a creek a good eight kilometers long in the Bavarian Spessart , which flows into the Main from the right and west in Lohr am Main in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart .

Surname

The name is made up of the adjective rëht for right and the substantive, mhd. Basic word bach for Bach. Rechtenbach means right Main tributary. The stream gave its name to the community of the same name.

The Rechtenbach rises in Rechtenbach at an altitude of 346  m above sea level. NHN in an enclosed well room . There it is fed underground by the Bischbornbach, which only flows on rainy days .

The Rechtenbach flows through the village and then runs for a longer part in a large south curve in a Kerbtal to Lohr am Main , with the Bundesstraße 26 accompanying it on the left . In Lohr, the Rechtenbach flows eastwards again and splits into Kaibach and Stadtbach just before the western bypass . The latter is guided through the old town . Both streams reunite on Gärtnerstrasse.

The Kaibach finally flows into the sport boat harbor at an altitude of 147  m above sea level. NHN from the right into the Main approaching from the northeast .

The 8.2 km long course of the Rechtenbach ends about 199 meters below its source, so it has an average bed gradient of about 24 ‰.

Catchment area

The 25.25 km² catchment area of ​​the Rechtenbach lies in the Spessart and is drained through it via the Main and the Rhine to the North Sea.

The catchment area is largely forested and the town of Lohr is located in the estuary. Other settlements are the lying in the source area village Rechtenbach and the Bisch Born Bach to the community Neuhütten belonging exclave Bischbornerhof .

  • Valleyless slope channel from the Upper Molkebrunnen ( Philipp-Wiesmann-Quelle ), from the left to about 273  m above sea level. NHN , 0.7 km. Arises in the Waldgewann Wombacher Buch at about 440  m above sea level. NHN .
  • Dunkelgraben , from the right at the waterworks on the south arch of the Rechtenbach to about 251  m above sea level. NHN , 1.1 km. In the Rodenbacher Buch, it rises from the Nützenbrunnen at around 415  m above sea level. NHN .

Mills

There are some old mills on the Rechtenbach. The uppermost Hartmanns mill is still on the outskirts of Rechtenbach. Only on the lower reaches from the south bend of the creek are the upper fulling mill , a paper mill , the lower fulling mill , the lower and the upper paper mill and the Lohmühle , the latter three already in the closed settlement area of ​​Lohr.
