The motorway junction Wolfsburg / Königslutter (abbreviation: AK Wolfsburg / Königslutter ; short form: Kreuz Wolfsburg / Königslutter ) is a motorway junction in Lower Saxony in the Hanover metropolitan region . It connects the federal highway 2 ( Oberhausen - Hanover - Berlin ; E 30 ) with the federal highway 39 ( Hamburg - Wolfsburg - Braunschweig - Salzgitter ).
geography
The motorway junction is located in the north-western part of the city of Königslutter am Elm in the Helmstedt district . The surrounding communities are Cremlingen and doctrine . The closest districts are Essehof , Schandelah and Rotenkamp. It is located about 15 km northeast of Braunschweig , about 15 km south of Wolfsburg and about 65 km west of Magdeburg .
The cross is on the edge of the Elm-Lappwald nature park .
The Wolfsburg / Königslutter motorway junction has junction number 58 on the A 2 and number 28 on the A 39.
history
The motorway junction was completed in 1982 as a preliminary construction work as a complete clover leaf, but only half of it ("half clover leaf") was used. In the 2000s it was converted into a temporary right-hand trumpet . In the course of closing the gap on the A 39 to Braunschweig, the motorway junction was rebuilt again. The conversion was necessary because the gap closing the through traffic from Frankfurt am Main or Kassel to Berlin or Poland shifted from the federal motorway 391 to the A 39 and thus a more efficient intersection was required. The conversion included the dismantling of the temporary direct ramp from the A 2 from Hanover to the A 39 to Wolfsburg, the new traffic routing on the ramps that were already in place and the extension of the acceleration lanes . Construction work was completed on December 11, 2008.
Design and state of development
The A 39 has four lanes in both directions. The A2 has six lanes. With the exception of the direct connecting ramp A 39 south-A 2 east (two-lane), all ramps are single-lane.
The cross was laid out as a shamrock .
Traffic volume
The cross is used by around 105,000 vehicles every day.
