The Braunschweig-Süd motorway junction (abbreviation: AK Braunschweig-Süd ; short form: Braunschweig-Süd intersection ) is a motorway junction in Lower Saxony in the Hanover metropolitan region . Since January 1, 2019, it has been connecting the federal motorway 39 ( Hamburg - Salzgitter ) with the federal motorway 36 ( Braunschweig - Vienenburg - Halle (Saale) ), which is initially signposted here as the B4. Before that, it represented the beginning of the 395 federal motorway .
geography
The motorway junction is located in the city of Braunschweig , in the Heidberg-Melverode district . The closest districts are Viewegsgarten-Bebelhof , Westliches Ringgebiet and Südstadt-Rautheim-Mascherode . It is located about 4 km south of Braunschweig city center, about 7 km north of Wolfenbüttel and about 15 km northeast of Salzgitter .
In the immediate vicinity is the Oker , which is crossed by the A 39 in a westward direction immediately after leaving the motorway junction.
The Braunschweig-Süd motorway junction is number 1 on the A 36 and junction number 34 on the A 39.
Design and state of development
Both motorways have four lanes each. The connecting ramps are single-track.
The motorway junction was laid out as a clover leaf .
