The city district is made up of the districts of Heidberg and Melverode . It is close to the Braunschweig Süd motorway junction and the A 39 and A 36 (formerly A 395) motorways . Together with the districts of Stöckheim-Leiferde and Südstadt-Rautheim-Mascherode , Heidberg-Melverode forms the municipal electoral district 21. The total population is 11,409 (as of 2012).
