Wenden-Thune-Harxbüttel is a district (No. 323) of Braunschweig , which includes the districts to the north. Together with the districts of Veltenhof-Rühme and Lehndorf-Watenbüttel , Wenden-Thune-Harxbüttel forms the electoral district 32. The total number of inhabitants is 6,388.

Autobahn 2 ( Hanover - Berlin ) runs south of Wenden-Thune-Harxbüttel . To the east, the Braunschweig city motorway A 391 merges into the B 4 towards Gifhorn .
The Mittelland Canal also separates the Wenden and Thune parts. In the east there is a port which until the end of 2009 served as a transshipment point for oil to supply the filling stations in the region with diesel and petrol.
Wenden also has a train station (Bf Wenden-Bechtsbüttel) on the Braunschweig - Uelzen railway line ( Mühlenbahn ). Around a dozen regional trains run daily on the poorly developed route, but none of them stop in Wenden. Museum railways occasionally run on weekends.
Instead, Wenden is connected to the city center and Braunschweig main station via tram line 1 every 10 minutes . The connection from Thune and Harxbüttel to line 1 takes place via line 434 and the regional bus network of the Verkehrsgesellschaft Landkreis Gifhorn (VLG).
