The Kogelsee is a mountain lake at an altitude of 2171 meters in the Lechtal Alps . It is located in the municipality of Gramais in the Reutte district of the Austrian state of Tyrol .

Location and surroundings

The Kogelsee is located 2.1 km southeast of Gramais in the middle of the Lechtal Alps. It is named after the immediately neighboring Kogel (2318 m), which together with Spitz (2401 m), Kogelseespitze (2647 m), and the Bockkarspitzen (2602 m) form the border of the Kogelkar .

Hydrology

The extension of the Kogelsee measures approximately 250 by 180 meters. The drainage takes place via the Platzbach into the Kogelkartal, which adjoins the Kar to the north . The lake thus belongs to the Lech and Danube river systems .

Access

The Kogelsee is accessible from the north via an alpine hiking trail that follows the Platzbach from Gramais (1328 m). The path leads directly past the lake up to the Kogelseescharte (2497 m), which connects to the Parzinn with its lakes (e.g. Parzinnseen and Gufelsee ) and peaks (e.g. Parzinnspitze , Dremelspitze , Große Schlenkerspitze ). There is also an accommodation option in the Hanauer Hütte .
