The Gufelsee is a 2281 meter high mountain lake in the Lechtal Alps . It is located in the Austrian state of Tyrol .

Location and surroundings

Within the Lechtal Alps, the Gufelsee is part of the Parzinn subgroup . It is located in a Karmulde west below the Gufelseejoch (2375 m). This yoke connects the Kogelseespitze (2647 m) north of the lake and the Parzinnspitze (2613 m) in its south. To the east of the yoke are the Parzinnseen (2340 m and 2322 m). To the west, the area first slopes down into another, larger Karmulde and from there down to the brandy floor .

The Gufelsee is located in the municipality of Zams in the Inn Valley, which runs approximately eight kilometers as the crow flies . The lake thus belongs to the Tyrolean district of Landeck . The border with the municipality of Gramais runs across the surrounding mountains .

Hydrology

At its longest point, the extension of the Gufelsee in east-west direction is about 190 meters, the width from north to south is about 100 meters. The Gufelsee drains over the open area to the brandy bottom into the Otterbach , which flows north past Gramais down the Gramaiser Tal to the Lech . The lake thus belongs to the Lech and Danube river systems .

Access

The Gufelsee is accessible via alpine hiking trails both from the west and from the east. From Gramais you can take a three-lake tour to the Gufelsee. This leads on the hiking trail 624 first to the Kogelsee (2171 m) and over the Kogelseescharte (2497 m) down to the Parzinnseen. Here it crosses with path 621 that leads up from the Hanauer Hütte (1922 m) . This crosses the Gufelseejoch to the Gufelsee. The descent is via the brandy bottom and path 626 . This tour requires surefootedness .
