history

Komnino (formerly also Kunhof or Kundehof ) was formerly a manor. In 1589, the Pomeranian Duke Johann Friedrich confirmed the possession of the property as a fief to Johann Colrep. Later it became a fief of the Bandemer family . In the period 1740–1784, Ernst Ludwig von Bandemer was the owner. Around 1784 there were a total of three households in Kuhnhof, including the wood-keeper's apartment on the field mark of the property. After the Bandemers, who still owned Kuhnhof in 1804, Friedrich Ludwig Karl von Hanstein was the owner. Before 1822 the village of Kuhnhof had 30 residents; before 1868 it had 65 inhabitants. In 1893 the Kuhnhof estate was owned by a woman from Hanstein. In 1909 Georg Steifensand bought the estate on Schwuchow . His son Wilhelm Steifensand took it over in 1913 and at the same time leased the Rotten estate and the Stresow estate. In 1920 he gave up the lease in Rotten and bought 600 acres of land adjacent to Kuhnhof from his estate. Until 1945 Kuhnhof was part of the municipality of Buchenstein (Wendisch Buckow) in the district of Stolp , administrative district of Köslin , the province of Pomerania .

Towards the end of the Second World War , the Buchenstein region was occupied by the Red Army on March 9, 1945 . At the end of March all residents had to leave the village for a few days by order of the Soviet occupation. In September 1945, Poles took over houses and farms; then the German villagers were expelled . The district of Kuhndorf was renamed Komnino .

The village of Kuhnhof today forms part of the Gmina Smołdzino ( rural community Schmolsin ) in the Powiat Słupski ( Stolper Kreis ) of the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship .
