The Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincent von Paul in Hildesheim is a society of apostolic life . You are part of the Vincentian family and a member of the Federation of Vincentian Communities .

The congregation has its seat in the mother house in Hildesheim and a number of other branches in the diocese of Hildesheim in eastern Lower Saxony and in Kassel in northern Hesse .

Facilities

The Hildesheim Vinzentinerinnen are responsible for four hospitals, six nursing homes, including the Paulusheim in Hildesheim, and other facilities. The seat of the administration is the mother house of the congregation in Hildesheim.

The Bernwardshof in Himmelsthür was acquired by the congregation in 1904 and initially served as a nursing home for sisters, later until 1987 as a children's home for boys . The buildings then housed administrative areas, a nursing home and, until 2011, the St. Vinzenz education and conference center. In 2015, the Vincentians cleared the building, and the city of Hildesheim then used a part of it to accommodate asylum seekers . In 2016, the Congregation sold the Bernwardshof to a real estate company that wants to convert the building complex into residential use.

Hospitals of the Hildesheim Vincentian Sisters

The first hospital of the Vincentine Sisters in Hildesheim, which was founded by three Paderborn Vinzentine Sisters before the congregation became independent in 1852 , is the St. Bernward Hospital . In 1979 it became a joint foundation of the Hildesheim diocese and the congregation.

The sponsorship of the Neu-Mariahilf hospital in Göttingen changed on March 11, 2014 from the Hildesheim Vincentian Sisters to the Evangelical Hospital Göttingen-Weende .

The St. Vinzenz Hospital in Braunschweig ceased operations on December 31, 2016. The building was acquired by the Evangelical Foundation Neuerkerode .
