Konrad von Brockdorff-Ahlefeldt

Konrad Friedrich Gottlieb Graf von Brockdorff - von Brockdorff-Ahlefeldt since 1837 - (born July 17, 1823 in Borstel (Holstein) ; † May 15, 1909 in Ascheberg ) was a German landowner and politician in the Duchy of Holstein .

Konrad von Brockdorff came from a branch of the Holstein nobility family Brockdorff . District Administrator Adolf von Brockdorff was an older brother. Brockdorff was adopted in 1837 by Count Conrad Christoph von Ahlefeldt from the von Ahlefeldt family and called himself von Brockdorff-Ahlefeldt from then on . Later he became master of Gut Ascheberg , which his adoptive father had set up for him as entails , as well as other estates in Livonia .

Brockdorff studied law at the University of Jena , the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . In 1843 he became a member of the fraternity on the bear in Jena . He later became active in the Corps Guestphalia Jena (1844), the Corps Guestphalia Heidelberg (1844) and the Corps Holsatia .

After graduating, he began a legal career as an auscultator at the Holstein government chancellery (higher court) in Glückstadt . After the death of his adoptive father in 1853, Gut Ascheberg became one of the most influential landowners in Holstein. He was an honorary knight and from 1878 commander of the Schleswig-Holstein cooperative of the Order of St. John .

From 1855 to 1858 he was a representative in the Holstein Estates Assembly . In 1886, Wilhelm I appointed him to the Prussian manor house , to which Brockdorff-Ahlefeldt belonged until his death in 1909, out of the utmost confidence .

Brockdorff-Ahlefeldt was married to Elisabeth, née von Jagow (born December 13, 1861 in Quitzow, Prignitz; † January 27, 1953 in Ascheberg). The son Conrad von Brockdorff-Ahlefeldt inherited his father's estate and was an army officer and a respected figure in the region.
