Konstantin Vasilyevich Ivanov ( Chuvash Иванов Константин Васильевич ; born May 15 . Jul / 27. May  1890 greg. life and work

As the son of a wealthy farming family, Konstantin Ivanov attended a school for Chuvash teachers in Simbirsk from 1903 to 1907 . Excluded from taking part in anti-Tsarist demonstrations, he returned to Slakbasch. In 1909 he passed the exam to become a so-called folk teacher.

In 1907 he began his literary production with translations by Lermontow , Tolstoy , Kolzow and Nekrasow from Russian into Chuvash.

At the age of 18 he wrote the poem Narspi (published in Simbirsk in 1908), which made him famous, has been translated into several languages ​​and is also known as the Chuvash Romeo and Juliet . His better-known works include the poems Autumn , The Hungry , Our Time , his ballads and the drama Slave of the Devil .

Konstantin Ivanov died of pulmonary tuberculosis when he was less than 25 years old .

Honors

In the village of Slakbasch, a museum about the life and work of Ivanov was established. The Chuvash Academy Theater was named after him, as was a street in Cheboksary .
