Konstantin Michailow (civil engineer)
Konstantin Vasilyevich Mikhailov ( Russian Константин Васильевич Михайлов ; born April 18 . Jul / 1. May 1913 greg. In Tbilisi ; † 12. August 2009 in Moscow ) was a Georgian Civil and university teachers .
Life
Mikhailov came from a wealthy family. He attended the German school. He learned English from his English grandmother. He studied civil engineering at the Georgian Industrial Institute. In 1938 he graduated with honors. During the German-Soviet War he was an officer in the Red Army .
In 1943, Mikhailov was discharged from the army to work at the Moscow Research Institute for Concrete and Reinforced Concrete (now the Gvozdev Institute for Concrete and Reinforced Concrete). In this institute, his older brother Viktor Mikhailov directed the prestressed concrete laboratory . Konstantin Michailow's main focus was the theory of concrete and reinforced concrete. He received his doctorate in technical sciences and was appointed professor. In 1965 Konstantin Michailow became director of the institute and headed it until 1988. In addition, he published the Russian trade journal Beton und Stahlbeton . He also made his name as architecture - historian .
