Konstantin Alexeyevich Satunin ( Russian Константин Алексеевич Сатунин ; born May 20, . Jul / 1. June  1863 greg. In Yaroslavl , † November 10 jul. / 23. November  1915 greg. In Mtskheta ) was a Russian zoologist .

Life

Satunin graduated from Moscow University in 1890. From 1893 he worked in the silk making station in the Caucasus .

In 1907 Satunin became a senior specialist in applied zoology and hunting in the Caucasus in the Department of Agriculture . He described many new species of mammals in Russia and Central Asia , including the Caucasian mole ( Talpa caucasica ), the Caucasian brook shrew ( Neomys teres , Syn . : Neomys schelkovnikovi Satunin, 1913) and the Roborovsky hamster ( Phodopus roborovskii ). He has written works for the fauna of the Caucasus (mainly vertebrates ), for Entomology , for Ichthyology , for Ornithology , for Herpetology , for zoogeography , the silk culture, to hunting science , for fishing , among other things, he examined the Caspian tiger from Prischibinskoje (Göytəpə, Rajon Jalilabad ) and compared him to a horse . His description of the Mugansteppe appeared in 1913.
