Konstantin Sebastian Freiherr von Neurath (born March 16, 1847 in Stuttgart ; † June 3, 1912 in Kleinglattbach ) was a Württemberg lawyer, politician and chamberlain .

Life

Konstantin von Neurath's father Constantin Franz von Neurath was Württemberg Foreign Minister, Minister of Justice and President of the Privy Council . After attending grammar school in Stuttgart, Neurath studied law at the universities in Tübingen and Heidelberg from 1865 to 1870 . From 1866 he was a member of the Corps Suevia Tübingen . He traveled several times to Italy and Austria and participated in the 1st Württ. Dragoon Regiment No. 23 in the Franco-German War of 1870/71. In 1872 Neurath married Mathilde Freiin von Gemmingen-Hornberg (1847–1924), a daughter of the Babstadt landlord Hermann von Gemmingen . Neurath was a Protestant and had three sons, including the later German Foreign Minister Konstantin Freiherr von Neurath . As part of his political activities, Neurath was a member of the Reichstag from 1881 to 1890 as a member of the German Reich Party . There he represented the constituency of Württemberg 4 ( Böblingen , Vaihingen , Leonberg , Maulbronn ). As a landowner, Neurath advanced to become lord chamberlain at the Württemberg royal court. He was a close confidante of King Wilhelm II.
