Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος Αρβανιτόπουλος , * 1960 in Piraeus ) is a Greek political scientist and professor of international relations at the Pantion University of Athens . He was Minister of Education and Culture in the Andonis Samara government .

Arvanitopoulos studied Political Science at Pantion University of Athens and earned a Masters and PhD degrees in International Relations from American University in Washington, DC , of which he was a fellow. From 1987 to 1989 he was a lecturer in International Relations and Comparative Government Studies at the School of International Service at American University. From 1990 to 1992 he was visiting scholar at the Center for European Studies at Harvard University , then until 1995 Assistant Professor of International and European Politics at the Department of Public and International Affairs at George Mason University in Virginia, USA.

From 2000 to 2009 he was General Director of the Konstantinos Karamanlis Institute for Democracy . He also headed the political office of the chairman of the New Democracy , Andonis Samaras .

In 2011 he was appointed to the interim government of Prime Minister Loukas Papadimos as a representative of the Nea Dimokratia as deputy minister in the ministry of education, in the government of Andonis Samaras in June 2012 as minister for education, religious affairs, culture and sport. After a cabinet reshuffle, he was Minister for Education and Religious Affairs from June 2013 to June 2014.
