Konstandinos Koukodimos

Konstandínos "Kóstas" Koukodímos ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος "Κώστας" Κουκοδήμος ; born September 14, 1969 in Melbourne ) is a former Greek long jumper . Since 2007 he has been a member of the Greek parliament for the Nea Dimokratia .

In 1990 he was ninth at the European Championships in Split . The following year he was fourth at the World Indoor Championships in Seville , won gold at the Mediterranean Games and came twelfth at the World Championships in Tokyo .

A sixth place at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona was followed by qualification at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart. In 1994 he won silver at the European Indoor Championships in Paris and bronze at the European Championships in Helsinki , and in 1995 he was sixth at the World Championships in Gothenburg . At the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 and in Sydney in 2000 , he was eliminated in qualification as well as in the 1997 World Championships in Athens and 1999 in Seville .

Between 1990 and 2002 he was a total of ten Greek champions. From 1994 he held the Greek record in the long jump with 8.36 m until he was replaced by Louis Tsatoumas in 2007 , who jumped 8.66 m in Kalamata .

In 2008, he temporarily left the Nea Dimokratia faction after he was accused of having offered the publisher of a tabloid a deal with the tax authorities if the latter were to hold back in reporting the affair surrounding the former Secretary of State for Culture, Christos Zachopoulos. After the investigation into this matter was closed, he returned to the ND group.
