Konstantinos Panagiotakos

Konstantinos Panagiotakos ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος Παναγιωτάκος Konstandínos Panagiotákos ; * 1917 in Zurich ; † 1993 ) was a Greek diplomat .

Biographical data

He was the son of Panagiotis Panagiotakos. In 1957 he married Irini Arvaniti. In 1946 he joined the foreign service. In 1948 he was a professor at the Institute of Law at the University of Athens . In 1948 he was Secretary of the Greek Delegation to the Third General Assembly of the United Nations in Lake Success . From 1950 to 1951 he was the legation secretary at the Consulate General in Jerusalem , which was the diplomatic mission in Israel under Joseph Mallah at that time. He was then employed at the Consulate General in Marseille . From 1959 to 1961 he was employed at the Embassy in Washington, DC . In 1965 he was employed at the Greek mission next to the UN headquarters . From 1968 to 1969 he was ambassador to New Delhi and at the same time accredited to the governments of Kathmandu , Colombo , Bangkok, Rangoon, Singapore, Kualalumpur, Jakarta and Saigon. From 1969 to 1970 he was a permanent representative at the Council of Europe . In 1971 he was ambassador of the Greek military dictatorship in Nicosia under his aegis Georgios Grivas was brought to Cyprus on August 31, 1971 , where he founded the armed organization EOKA B, which he used as a lever to prevent Makarios III. to make compliant for Enosis according to Dimitrios Ioannidis . In 1972 he was State Secretary in the Greek Foreign Ministry. From December 12, 1972 to February 27, 1974 he represented the Greek military dictatorship next to the UN headquarters .
