Lake Success is a village in the US state of New York in Nassau County . About 2900 people live there on an area of 5.0 km².
The village belongs to the town of North Hempstead in northwest Long Island . Lake Success was the seat of the United Nations , Sperry Corporation , and is now the seat of Canon USA, Inc.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the village has a total area of 4.9 km² of which 0.1 km² (2.08%) is water and 4.8 km² (97.92%) is land.
history
Lake Success gets its name from the dead lake of the same name , which according to tradition was called Sucut by the Native Americans . William K. Vanderbilt II bought land at this lake in the late 19th century, where the present village was founded in December 1927.
In 1939 the US government bought a large lot between Marcus Avenue, Lakeville Road and Union Turnpike to make way for the Sperry Corporation , which manufactured a variety of marine, military, aerospace and navigation equipment there. During the Second World War , 22,000 people worked in this company. After the war, between 1946 and 1951, parts of this facility were used as temporary headquarters for the United Nations because the UN headquarters in New York was not yet completed.
The Hain Celestial Group , founded in 1993, has its headquarters there.
Other users of the site included Unisys , Loral Corporation and Lockheed Martin , who produced space and marine technology there on 140,000 m² until Lockheed closed the facility in 1998. In 2000, National RE / sources bought the 380,000 m² Lockheed site, converted it into an industrial park , and named it i.park .

According to the data of the United States Census 2000 , there were 2797 residents, 798 households and 683 families with permanent residence in Lake Success in 2000. The population density was 574.4 people / km². There were 824 residential and building units with an average density of 169.2 units / km². The composition of the village after races ( racemic ) was found by: 78.94% White, 4.76% African-Americans, Asians 15.16%, 0.04% Pacific Islander , 0.25% of other races, and 0, 86% with two or more races. The average household size was 2.86 people and that of the average family size was 3.11 people.
The age distribution in the village was broken down as follows: 20.1% under 18-year-olds, 4.1% between 18 and 24 years old, 15.8% between 25 and 44 years old, 24.3% between 45 and 64 years old and 35 , 8% who were 65 years of age or older. The average age was 52 years. Statistically, there were 80.1 men for every 100 women. In the group of people aged 18 and over, there were 73.1 men for every 100 women.
The average annual income for a household was $ 134,383 and that of the average family was $ 145,562. Men had an average annual income of $ 100,000 versus that of women at $ 46,923. The per capita income for the entire village was $ 58,002. Around 1.4% of families and 1.9% of residents had an income below the poverty line , including 1.6% under 18 and 3.2% aged 65 and over.
