Lake Success is a village in the US state of New York in Nassau County . About 2900 people live there on an area of ​​5.0 km².

The village belongs to the town of North Hempstead in northwest Long Island . Lake Success was the seat of the United Nations , Sperry Corporation , and is now the seat of Canon USA, Inc.

Lake Success gets its name from the dead lake of the same name , which according to tradition was called Sucut by the Native Americans . William K. Vanderbilt II bought land at this lake in the late 19th century, where the present village was founded in December 1927.

In 1939 the US government bought a large lot between Marcus Avenue, Lakeville Road and Union Turnpike to make way for the Sperry Corporation , which manufactured a variety of marine, military, aerospace and navigation equipment there.
