Talia Rose Shire (born Coppola ; born April 25, 1946 in Lake Success , Long Island , New York ) is an American actress . Right at the start of her career, she gained greater notoriety with her role as Connie Corleone in the Godfather trilogy . She played her best-known role - in five films - as the girlfriend and wife of the boxer Rocky .

Talia Shire is the daughter of the Italian-born musician Carmine Coppola , her two brothers are the film director Francis Ford Coppola and August Coppola , the father of the actor Nicolas Cage .

Talia Shire was married twice: first to the composer David Shire , then to the film producer Jack Schwartzman , who died of cancer in 1994. From her first marriage she has the son Matthew Shire (* 1975), from her second marriage the two sons Jason Schwartzman (* 1980), actor and former member of the band Phantom Planet , and Robert Schwartzman (* 1982), actor and member of the band Rooney .
