The Town of North Hempstead is one of three towns in Nassau County, New York . It is located between Hempstead and Oyster Bay on Long Island .
It was here on July 6, 1919, that the first Atlantic non-stop flight , an R34 , landed at Roosevelt Field in Mineola. Seven years later, the first flight of a Sikorsky S-35 also took off from here .
In 1936 the US Post Office Mineola was built by the architect Julian Peabody .
After 1950, the dentist DB Ast demonstrated the positive effect of fluoridation in drinking water.
Today the headquarters of the sports equipment supplier Maverik Lacrosse is located here .
