Konstantyn Czechowicz , also Konstantyn Ritter von Czechowicz or Konstantyn Chekhovych (born January 3, 1847 in Dziewiecier ( Dewjatyr / Dziewięcierz ), Galicia ; † April 28, 1915 ) was Bishop of Przemyśl, Sambor and Sanok for the Ruthenian-Greek Church in Galicia.

Life

Konstantyn Czechowicz's family lived in Dziewiecierz. In 1873, Czechowicz was ordained a priest and later became vicar general in the Przemyśl, Sambor and Sanok eparchy. From 1888 to 1890 he was rector of the Greek Catholic seminary in Przemyśl . On November 17, 1896, he was appointed Bishop of Przemyśl, Sambor and Sanok, the later Archeparchy Przemyśl-Warsaw of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church . He was ordained a bishop on February 21, 1897. He was an advocate of the Ukrainian national movement and supported the establishment of a women's order. He was one of the initiators of the founding of financial institutions that worked according to cooperative principles. He died in Russian captivity on April 28, 1915, after the Russian occupation of Ukraine.
