The Kossju (Ко́сью) in the catchment area of the Pechora |
The Kossju ( Russian Ко́сью ) is a left tributary of the Ussa in the Komi Republic in northwestern Russia .
The Kossju rises on the western flank of the Subpolarural , not far from the Narodnaya , the highest peak in the Urals. It flows in a northerly direction to the Ussa. The Kossju has a length of 259 km. The catchment area of the Kossju covers 14,800 km². Important tributaries of the Kossju are Wangyr , Bolschaja Sarjuga , Malaja Sarjuga from the left, as well as Koschim and Bolschaja Inta from the right. Kossju is ice-free between May and the end of October. In June, during the thaw , the river reaches its greatest drainage.
