The Kotzen ( Bavarian also Kutzen , from Old High German  kozzo rough blanket cloth , compare Cotte 'Kutte' and Kote, Kotze 'tent') is an ancient name for a coarse woolen material made of carded yarn , woven in plain weave or twill weave , more or less lightly milled and Well roughened on both sides and not sheared , and therefore usually provided with a fur-like, dense and long pile .

The material was used for horse blankets , other blankets , coats and capes (also known as puke or weather stain ) and the like.

The fabric was manufactured u. a. from the company Jos. Stefsky .
