Kragesand is a Danish town that belongs to the Sønderborg municipality on the Flensburg Fjord . It is located on the Broager Land peninsula , south of the village of Skelde and is part of the Broager Sogn .

location

The street village of Kragesand is located directly south of the village of Skelde. The village street, on which there are about ten buildings, bears the street name of the same name, Kragesand. "Royhuus" is inscribed on maps from the 19th century at the northern beginning of the village street. The said maps indicate that "Royhuus" probably meant the local farm ( location ). In Danish and Low German, a house only refers to a house or, for example , in Niehuus , which is located twenty kilometers west of Flensburg , also a castle. Approximately 250 meters northeast of this courtyard is another courtyard, which also has a name on the older maps, namely "Borre" ( location ). Incidentally, the land nose or headland near Kragesand ( Lage ) represents the southernmost point of the Broager Land peninsula. The coastal section there to the east of the “Hofes Borre” is obviously also under the name “Borre-Hoved” (pronounced in German: “Borre -Howel "). The Danish word "Hoved" means something like head or head. In a field east of Borre, according to regional information, there is also a southern tip at the open sea, which is to be called Groß-Borreshoved. A ledge north of it is said to be called Klein-Borreshoved. Nowadays, the Gendarmstien hiking trail also leads along Kragesand. The so-called “love tunnel” is located east of Kragesand today. Trees there stretch out over the slope and form the aforementioned tunnel path, which is part of the Gendarmstien. There is a popular fishing spot just west of the land nose of Kragsand . It is only possible to walk westwards from Kragesand along the coast when the water level is very low. Another obstacle that can be found in the western beach section there in summer are the cows grazing on a paddock. On the opposite side of the fjord , on the German side, are the steep banks between Westerholz and Neukirchen .

history

The place is already entered as such on a Danish map from 1857/58. The flood of the Baltic Sea storm of 1872 obviously also left its traces in Kragesand. At a house in the lower part of the village, but still far above the beach of Kragesand, there is an old high water mark which reminds of the storm surge of November 13th of that year.
