action

The story takes place around Christmas in the small town of Granhyttan in Bergslagen in central Sweden , which once had rich mines. The children at the local school are practicing a Christmas play, including 8-year-old Staffan Jonsson and teenagers Maria and Åke. Meanwhile, a suspicious couple, Sinje and Uwe, appear in town, hiding in a dilapidated residential building. During a ski trip, the local children pass an old, remote and disused copper mine. While Staffan explores the surroundings of the mine without her, the other children experience eerie things inside the building, including the like. a. strange noises and bells that ring on their own. Startled, they leave the mine. Finally, outside, Maria and Åke meet Staffan, who shows them a piece of shiny metal: gold. But their conversation does not go unmolested. They are overheard and a short time later the entire place knows about Staffan's find. Several people behave strangely towards Staffan, among them the new school caretaker and the butcher Lagerström. Shortly thereafter, Staffan's gold nugget is stolen. During the Lucia festival the children try to find the culprit. It is becoming increasingly clear that Lagerström is probably the thief. But there is no transfer because Staffan suddenly finds the gold again. There are further attempts to steal the gold, for example by the strange couple, Sinje and Uwe, who surprise Staffan at home. At the last moment, Staffan manages to escape. The children are now trying to use the theater performance to pose Lagerström. But Staffan has disappeared, kidnapped by the school janitor who wants to find the place where Staffan found the gold. In the end, the children find the spot, plus a whole sack of stolen goods with gold. When the caretaker ties Staffan in the mine, Sinje and Uwe (accomplices of the caretaker) and Maria appear, who is promptly tied up too. The rescue finally comes through Lagerström, who is armed with a rifle and frees the children. In the end, they catch the thieves trying to escape from the mine.

Further information

  • Each part of the series begins with an introduction by Tore Lindwall, who plays Staffan's grandfather.

  • The first performance took place in the winter of 1969. Due to its popularity, the series was repeated several times.
  • The soundtrack (Krähengold-Ballade) comes from Leif Krantz (lyrics) and Thorstein Bergman (music).
  • Staffan Hallerstam (Staffan Jonsson) and Maria Lindberg (Maria) were already in front of the camera in 1967 for the predecessor of Das Gold am Krähenberg . Leif Krantz's Kullamannen had also been a success in Sweden but was only shown on Swedish television.
