The Hardheim hospital has existed as an acute hospital in Hardheim in the Neckar-Odenwald district in Baden-Württemberg for over 100 years . It is operated by a hospital association to which five municipalities belong: Hardheim, Höpfingen and Walldürn from the Neckar-Odenwald district and Königheim and Külsheim from the adjacent Main-Tauber district . The Hardheim hospital supplies a room for around 25,000 residents.

history

At the beginning of the 14th century a hospital was set up in Hardheim, which became the root of today's hospital.

In the 1960s, residents from the association area donated DM 160,140 for renovation and maintenance measures . In 1997 a signature campaign resulted in 7036 signatures for the preservation of the hospital. This in turn led to the establishment of an “interest group for the preservation of the house” and on January 13, 2002 to the establishment of the “Freundes und Förderkreis Krankenhaus Hardheim e. V. ".

Outline and structure

The affiliated hospital specializes in the areas of gynecology , internal medicine and surgery / orthopedics . In the areas of surgery and internal medicine, there is round-the-clock care. Also a critical care service. The emergency medical care is a rescue station with an ambulance of the Red Cross District Association Book e. V., which is located directly at the hospital.

Others

The Hardheim hospital became a supraregional model for maintaining small hospitals in rural areas. Local politicians and press representatives from other circles and federal states have already contacted the chairman of the Hardheim hospital to find out how, according to the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung, it has been "from problem child to showcase" since the 1990s . According to Mayor Volker Rohm, head of administration Ludwig Schön and chairman of the Friends and Sponsors "Our Hospital", Fritz-Peter Schwarz, the secret of success of the good development lies in a multitude of reasons: In addition to committed doctors, there is above all great support in the Population, a bustling support group with almost 1200 members (with 4482 inhabitants in Hardheim) and the independence of the house. The citizens of the support group, including dignitaries such as a former IHK president at the top, have already invested several hundred thousand euros in the hospital's health care system and have won an honorary award from the state of Baden-Württemberg, as reported by Südwest Presse . In terms of construction, a “tactic of small steps” was followed in Hardheim, said Schön. The number of specialists has increased from five to 13 specialists and eight assistant doctors.
