Krassowa , Polish Krasowa , is a village in the bilingual Polish municipality of Leschnitz (Leśnica) in the powiat Strzelecki of the Opole Voivodeship .

Krassowa is located around 35 kilometers southeast of Opole and 3 kilometers southwest of Leschnitz in historic Upper Silesia .

history

The village of Krassowa was mentioned as Kraszowa in 1679 . Since it belonged to the parish of Leschnitz, the pastor of Leschnitz was the owner of the village.

In 1720 there were 82 inhabitants. The statistics from 1783 name 6 farmers, 9 farmers, 1 homeworker and a total of 75 inhabitants. There was already a water mill back then. In 1817, 93 people lived in Krasowa. The Silesian topography from 1845 gives the population as 204. At that time there were 26 houses and a mill. In 1861 Krasova had 217 inhabitants, in 1910 265, 1939 293 and 1996 215.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, which was accompanied by conditions similar to civil war in the area , 84 people in Krassowa voted to remain with Germany and 70 for Poland. Like the entire district of Groß-Strehlitz, Krassowa remained with the German Empire.

From 1933, the new National Socialist rulers carried out large-scale renaming of place names of Slavic origin. In 1936 the place name Krassowa was changed to Klein Walden .

In 1945 the place fell to Poland as Krasowa .

Today Krasowa belongs to the nearby parish in Januszkowice (Januschkowitz).

In 2006 the municipality of Leschnitz , to which Krassowa belongs as a district, introduced German as an auxiliary language and in 2008 introduced bilingual place names.
