The 340 meter long Kraushöhle is located in the Nothklamm near Gams near Hieflau .

The locals were already familiar with the cave around 1838. In 1881 the cave was opened up by building a tunnel under the leadership of Councilor Franz Kraus . From 1883, a small power station supplied the electricity for the world's first electrically illuminated cave. However, this attempt had to be stopped again after a few years due to technical difficulties and cost reasons. Today the tours are carried out with flashlights.

The Gams volunteer fire brigade has been looking after the cave since 1963. The income from the tours supports the work of the fire brigade.

The Kraushöhle is the only gypsum crystal show cave in Europe.
