The Krefeld Canoe Club was founded in Krefeld in 1927 .

The association's figureheads are the women in the triathlon department, whose team has been competing in the 1st Bundesliga since 2000 as the Schwalbe team in Krefeld's Kanu Club. The greatest successes are the third places in 2006, 2008, 2013 and 2018. Other women's teams start in the NRW League and the Oberliga. The men's teams start in the Senior League and the Association League South.

Prominent starters of the club were in the past z. B. Irina Abysova , Vendula Frintová , Andrea Brede , Rachel Klamer , Kathrin Müller and Gillian Backhouse.

The Bundesliga squad currently includes: Charlotte Ahrens (D), Iveta Fairaislova (CZE), Sophie Fischer (D), Kira Hedgeland (AUS), Kaidi Kivioja (EST), Petra Kurikova (CZE), Tamsyn Moana-Veale (AUS) , Caroline Pohle (D), Sian Rainsley (GBR), Cecilia Santamaria-Surroca (ESP), Nicole van der Kaay (NZL), Rike Westermann (D) and Deborah Wissink (NED).

The main sponsor and namesake of the Bundesliga team is the brand name of the European market leader for bicycle tubes and coats, Schwalbe .

First chairman of the club is Matthias Gensior , second chairman is Angela Müller and the team manager of the Bundesliga team is Guido Pesch .
