The district of Bonyhád (Hungarian Bonyhádi járás ) is a district in the south of the southern Hungarian county of Tolna . It borders on Tamási County to the north and Szekszárd County to the east . Furthermore, five districts of Baranya County form the border: in the west the districts Hegyhát and Komló , in the south the districts Pécs , Pécsvárad and Mohács .

history

During the Hungarian administrative reform in early 2013, the district emerged with all 21 municipalities from the small area of the same name (Hungarian Bonyhádi kistérség ) and received 4 more municipalities from its eastern neighbor, the small area Szekszárd . At that time, the area grew by 99.31 square kilometers (26.3%) or 3,358 inhabitants (12.3%).
