The district of Pécs (Hungarian Pécsi járás ) is an inland district in the center of the southern Hungarian county of Baranya . It was formed for the Hungarian administrative reform at the beginning of 2013 mainly (36 of 39 municipalities) from its predecessor, the small area of ​​Pécs (Hungarian Pécsi kistérség ). Three communities from the dissolved Pécsvárad small area and one from the dissolved Komló small area completed the new district. Three municipalities from the disbanded small area Pécs switched to the Sellye district . Pécs is the most populous district and is third in area in the county . The administrative seat of the district is the city of Pécs (German Fünfkirchen ), which is also the administrative seat of the county and has county rights.
