The district of Szeged (Hungarian Szegedi járás ) is a district in the south of the southern Hungarian county of Csongrád-Csanád . In the south it borders on the neighboring countries of Serbia and Romania with 5 municipalities .
history
As part of the Hungarian administrative reform, the small area of Szeged (Hungarian: Szegedi kistérség ) transferred the municipality of Zsombó to the new district of Mórahalom at the beginning of 2013 and received two municipalities from the small area of Makó . The loss of territory for the successor district of Szeged was therefore 2,270 inhabitants (on 12.00 km²).

The Szeged District has an average municipality size of 15,281 inhabitants on an area of 57.01 square kilometers. The population density of the second largest district is considerably higher than that of the county . The administrative seat is the largest city, Szeged , in the center of the district. In addition to the county seat, the city is legally equivalent to a county (Hungarian Megyei jogú város ).
