The Kreuzberg is a 388 meter high mountain in the Spessart near Geiselbach in the district of Aschaffenburg in Bavaria . In the local dialect it is called "Kreizkippel".
geography
The mostly wooded mountain is located just north of Geiselbach on the district Geiselbacher forest that by 2014 community-free , was and is the highest elevation of Geiselbacher community district. Birkenhainer Straße leads over the Kreuzberg . East of the Kreuzberg is the Gleisberg (352 m), southeast of the Ziegelberg (380 m). In the north is the Rochusberg (333 m). The Kreuzberg is bounded to the west by the Budemichgraben and to the northwest, on the state border with Hesse , by the Näßlichbach .
history
In old maps from 1594 and 1619 the Kreuzberg is referred to as the "corner stone". The name Kreuzberg has only been found since the 19th century. Church documents show that there must have been a wooden or stone cross there as early as 1847. In 1906 a way of the cross was built to the summit. The stations were renovated in 1984 and 2007.
