The Ore Mountains (Czech: Krušnohorská hornatina ) is a subdivision of the geomorphological classification of the Czech Republic . The area includes the three mountains Fichtelgebirge (Smrčiny), Ore Mountains (Krušné hory) and Bohemian Switzerland (Děčínská vrchovina). Within the Erzgebirge sub-province , the Erzgebirge highlands are often compared to the Czech Erzgebirge foothills .

Position and extent

The highest part is the Ore Mountains with the Klínovec as the highest point. While the German side has only a slight gradient, it drops steeply to the south into the Eger Basin with the North Bohemian Basin . The Fichtel Mountains form the western edge. The eastern edge of the sub-province in Bohemian Switzerland is covered by Cretaceous sandstones .

Neighboring units of the Erzgebirgs-subprovince (Krušnohorská subprovincie) are the Šumava subprovince (Šumavská subprovincie) which Beraun-subprovince (Poberounská subprovincie), the Sudeten subprovince (Krkonošsko-Jesenicka subprovincie) and the Czech tableland (tabule Česká)
